sample answer (band 8):
introduction:
Growing up I always had this eagerness to learn and experience new things. I felt an adrenaline rush through my body whenever I tried anything new. Although I have learned countless new skills through trial and testing, one of them is special and hence worth mentioning. I’m usually always ready to turn over a new leaf in life.
What the skill was?
I vividly remember, it was during my summer holidays in class 8 that I wanted to try something new. Hence, I put my thinking cap on and after pondering on a few options for a day, I decided to indulge in the art of baking.
Who taught you this skill?
My grandmother was the one who assisted me in learning this skill. To tell you honestly, it was very fascinating to watch her cake mixture rise and become a fluffy spongy ready to eat cake every time. We had a lot of fun in doing so. It was only because of her that I learned the importance of precise measurements in baking.
How they taught you?
However, baking a perfect cake wasn’t a piece of cake for me. It took me many days to master the art properly. It was only after many trials and errors that I could finally get it right. every time I failed, she used to encourage me to try again. She was my mentor and my guiding light.
Explain why you think it is important?
I would not essentially say that everyone should learn to bake a cake. However, I definitely think that learning to cook is a very important skill which should be learned by every individual irrespective of their gender. It is a basic life skill we all need to master.
