1. Parents are the Primary Teachers and should set good examples for children.
2. Children are like water, they take the shape of the vessel in which they are poured.
3. Parents have the moral and legal responsibilities toward their child.

Reasons for Disagree:

1. Peers, teachers and society have great influence on children.
2. Other factors such as availability of gadgets and gizmos, their personal experiences, their emotional and mental well being, their academic and sports performance, their self-confidence, etc also play a crucial role.

Essay on Disagree:

In the contemporary epoch, there is a heated argument over the issue that parents should be held responsible for their child’s conduct. A lion’s share of the society favors it. However, the rest goes averse it. While I understand the concern of people who hold this opinion, others factors should not be completely ignored. Hence, the children themselves and not the parents should be held responsible for the bad behavior.

There are a few reasons why people believe that parents should be held responsible for their children’s behavior. First and foremost being that parents are the primary teachers and should set good examples for children. They emphasize that a child imitates the actions of their parents as they are his role models. They justify this by saying that children are like water and take the shape of the vessel in which they are poured. Hence, parents have the moral and legal responsibilities toward their children.

On the other hand, I would like to justify my point of view by stating some facts. Firstly, though parents greatly influence the child’s behavior, however there are various other factors influencing them which cannot be ignored. First of all, Children behaviors are to a large extent governed by Peers, their teachers and society. To explain further, Children cannot be monitored by parents in schools, in playgrounds, around their friends in tuitions and while playing games. They cannot be around them at every instance to guide them through the right and wrong decisions and behaviors. Children are individuals and have their own emotional intelligence with which they respond to situations.

Moreover, other factors such as their personal experiences, their emotional and mental well being, their academic and sports performance, their self-confidence, the content they watch in the absence of parents on their gadgets and gizmos, etc also play a crucial role in their all round development. Hence, blaming parents for their children’s bad gestures, response, actions and conduct is not a wise decision.

To conclude, a child is influenced by the world they grow up in. They grow and morph into individuals that do not necessarily reflect what their parents taught them. Hence, parents should not be held accountable for their child’s bad conduct.

Essay on Agree:

Parents take a lot of pain in upbringing their children and they want them to be responsible citizens of the society. Some individuals believe that parents should be held responsible for their child’s conduct and demeanor while some disagree. However, I am of the opinion that parents should be held accountable for the child’s deed. The reasons for my decision are discussed in the looming paragraphs.

To justify my point of view further, a child learns and imitates the actions of his parents.They are his role models during the initial years. They pick up and learn the things that they see. Moreover, Parents are the primary teachers and hence should set good examples for children. To elaborate further,  A child’s nature and etiquettes are developed in his budding years itself. These are the prime years when a child’s basic identity is formed.  Hence, it is the duty of the parents to become better role models for their children. To exemplify, a research conducted by Oxford University in UK in April, 2023 on a group of 500 juvenile criminals ranging between 12-18 years old clearly revealed that 80% of their parents or people in their immediate family were people with criminal backgrounds.

On the other hand, some critics go against the above said assertion for various reasons. First and foremost, Children’s behaviors are to a large extent governed by Peers, their teachers and society. They say that children cannot be monitored by parents at all times. Moreover, other factors such as their personal experiences, academic and sports performance, self-confidence, content they watch in the absence of parents on their gadgets and gizmos, etc also play a crucial role in their all round development. However, I believe that if a parent facilitates open discussion and maintains dialogue with his child on a daily basis, then they can help the child reflect on his behavior and do good deeds.

To conclude, the importance of effective parenting cannot be neglected in shaping the morals and values of a child. These have never been as important as it is in today’s contemporary epoch because proper parenting forms the backbone of a child’s behavior in the future. Parenting approach goes a long way in influencing how a child would behave and react in the future.
